We saw the show at Didcot on Saturday night. It may not seem like the centre of culture, but the venue was very very nice. And the artists said they were looked after very well (G&T's at half time!)
Lots of good songs and stories and fun. They played most of 'Holy Heathens'. The girls were hilarious with the actions to Twelve days of Christmas. Sad that Eliza couldn't be there, but Mike Waterson was absolutely brilliant and brought something new to the show.
And he sang The Scarecrow.
That was my musical highlight of the evening.
If you can catch one of the few remaining dates, do (that's if they are not sold out) |

Anne, I was at the Bury show on Thursday and - a few teething problems aside (forgiven as it was the first date) - I agree with everything you say, except that my highlight would be Mike's take on his own "Jack Frost", or possibly a brilliant "Sound, Sound Your Instruments of Joy", or... well, we could be here some time but I think you get the picture.
Anyway, there are still a couple of dates left for anyone lucky enough to be able to get to them:

My turn last night at Shoreham. A wonderful evening (Mike had a poorly throat though but struggled manfully on) and truly uplifting.
Personal favourites, apart from Mike's songs (and he went right through the Intro to Scarecrow before launching into Jack Frost ) were those where 7 voices were raised in joyful harmony, especially the songs from the Copper Family.
Yet another very good night in a year when I have had so many great musical moments. |
